I am using a Media Center PC to record TV shows or movies. Naturally I end up with a .dvr-ms file and the source is Satellite dish standard Deff TV. My process is as follows:
(1) take .dvr-ms file and cut the credits or comercials with dcut
(2) take the edited.dvr-ms file and convert to .mpeg with DVRToolbox
(3) demux with project X
(4) author .d2v and .mp2 file or .ac3 file to DVD compliant files with DVDAuthorGUI
(5) compress with DVD-RB and HCenc 21
(6) ImgBurn to build burn the ISO.
My question is about the output I get. It looks pretty good but still doesn't look as good as a DVD rip. I believe this is because my source is interlaced and a DVD rip gives you a progressive source to process with DVD-RB and HCenc. Is there anyway to take the source keeping in mind that it is a satelite recording to a media center not a DVD rip? Can I make it progressive and how will it improve the quality. what about 3/2 pulldown? When HCenc processes it it shows scan method: alternate not zigzag, best for profile, 4:3 ad dc prec is 9
any advise would be appreciated.
thanks
