sorry if this isn't in the right thread but here's my question

I want to store all of my DVD's on hard drives for a HTPC I am ok with having 2+TB of harddisk space, but most media players don't pick up on .VOB files from straight rips. What other choices do I have. I want to keep the video quality and the ability to play AC3/DTS audio. Any suggestions on a media player/organizer or a different more universal codec?

Personally speaking I now have two network capable media players (a Ziova CS505 and Zensonic Z500), so nowadays I back-up my DVD's as "movie-only" .ISO files (using DVDFab HD Decrypter) and store them on my media serving PC....

All the DVD .ISO back-ups navigate and play just like the original DVD ;)

i could do that but WMP doesn't recognize .ISO files as a media file nor does Jetaudio or any other player i know of. Thanks though. Any other tips??

edit: well it does play it if forced to but it won't catalog it like it does all your CD's, you know what im tryin to say?

VLC player supports playback of DVD .ISO files natively!

Alternatively, you could use DAEMON Tools to mount your DVD .ISO files, then any software player will play them.
