Please bear with me as I am new here to the forum. First off, Hello. My question is: I took home video of some RC Car stuff back about 5 or 6 years back. I had downloaded it and burned it all on some cd's as AVI Files. They played flawlessly on my old system. Now, years later, I took out the cd's to look at the videos and to my surprise, they won't play. I can hear the audio, but there is no video. I am now running windows XP with the latest media player. Is there some kind to codec which is no longer used these days that I may be missing?? I really don't want to lose these videos. Back then I was using Media Player 6.4 or earlier. If anyone has any insight please let me know. Thanks.

Open it in GSpot and post a screenshot of the result.

Try vlc media player. In my experience it plays a lot of formats that other players have problems with.

Or in AVInaptic, excellent AVI/MP4/MOV/MKV/OGM/ASF analyze tool :)

(Simply grab "avinaptic-20071027-full.zip ", unzip it and run avinaptic.exe)

Also you could give MPlayer a try ;)

I want to thank everyone who replied to my problem. I ran both the gspot program as well as the other one. They both said it was an I263 video codec. I downloaded and installed it and BINGO, I have picture!! I am so happy. It's been about 2 years that I could not see these videos. Thanks again!:thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:
