Hi!

You captioned your threadstarting postSpiderman 3 decrypting problems. What decrypting problems have you encountered with this DVD? (What you've posted indicates a good rip)

I thought i got some problems with this DVD but after changing DVD reader, all went fine.

I keep this title for people who may have some problem with this movie as it s just out in the states.

RipIt4Me v.1.6.4 properly processed the R1 version of "Spiderman 3" with no difficulty...

The only noteworthy thing about this release is that this is a title that sony would usually use ArccOS on and they didn't, only css, no structure protection at all.
Maybe they're working on something new or have decided to stop wasting time and money on advanced protection for sd releases

SONY (as well as others with other forms of protection) seems to have a proclivity for first testing new "ARccOS" protection schemes on smaller, more obscure releases, or in regions other than R1.

If I remember correctly, it's been several months since SONY last came out with a new variation.

Personally, I think they may have now exhausted all possibilities that don't affect playback of the original DVD...

If there's no ARccOS, what are all those dummy sectors in tiny cells in VTS_01_1.VOB (and also at the end of the movie)?

Of course, it has advanced protection (at least johnhamler1's copy - which is R2)!

R1 ripped just fine with DVDDecrypter alone, no errors. However, there does not appear to be a layer break for a dual layer backup. Curious if they used a seamless flag or something. IMGburn offers two layer break options, but I'm not sure either would be good choices since the audio is continuous throughout the cell.

Then R1 has no structure protection. I'd burn it with a seamless layer break to get rid of the pause. However, remember, the original has the LB set, so the audio can't be too noticeable (unless it is mastered really badly).

blutach, I checked with PGCEdit and IFOEdit, and there is no layer break set. Did you see one, and if so which cell?

blutach

I don't have the R1 disc, so I simply assume it has a LB. I could be wrong.

OK thanks, blutach. I'm not sure how to set a seamless flag, or if it is even possible, with IMGBurn. I see how with PGCEdit, though it does state there could be play back problems. Any experience using that feature and how the disc played back?

All my experience playing seamless LB has been good. See the guides on ImgBurn Forum (http://forum.imgburn.com/) for how to set the seamless option.
