View Full Version : Has anyone gotten permanent subtitiles to work?

Hello all,
I have recently started using DVD2SVCD and I must say I am very impressed. I was encoding City of Lost Children yesturday and, since the movie is in French, I thought I would put on permanent English subtitles. But, when I selected that option, after okaying the color and language I got an 'incorrect parameter' error followed by something like a 'cannot draw on canvas' error. I tried it several times to the same result. Then I tried with the SVCD subtitles and it worked fine. I WOULD really like the permanent subtitles option available for these foreign films. What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

I always use permanent subtitles and it works just fine. When you use the subtitles check "rip the subtitles" and than check "permanent subtitles". Maybe you did something wrong here! Or look for the settings in the Doom guide.

Hi everybody, The same error happened to me when trying to use permanent subtitles with "Shaolin soccer" :
'incorrect parameter' error followed by something like a 'cannot draw on canvas' error.
Pleeease can anyone help ?

this is a bug of the version 1.0.5, running under win98/me. It is fixed in version 1.0.6 (not yet released). Try an older version.

I had no problems burning permanent subtitles - the best option with foreign language movies.

However, with English language movies one might prefer selectable subtitles.

I used DVD2SVCD to burn SVCD with subtitles (1.0.5 build 4, SVCD subtitles)

When I play the disk (using Sampo DVE-611 player), it would not show the subtitles. When I press subtitle button on the remote it looks like the player lets you select subtitles, however they do not show.

I tried different things - and suddenly it worked! So I watched the movie and turned the player off.

The problem is - I do not remember how I got there. No matter what I did since - I was not able to get subtiiles any more.

Please help!
