(I'm a Newbie)I'm using DVD2SVCD 1.0.5 bundle 4...I have successfully ripped/burned American Pie into 2 discs using Fireburner...This was my first ever converted dvd to svcd...My next goal was Sopranos season 1...The first disc is broken down into 4 epidsodes...I once again used DVD2SVCD... The whole process completes without any error...Then I burned the cue/bin using fireburner...That works excellent...I put the SVCD in my dvd player and then it starts playing episode 1 just perfect...their is no episode 2 3 and 4 like on the original...Why are they not on this disc...What I did notice is when DVD2SVCD was done their was only one .cue file and only one .bin file...I'm stuck...I have been reading a ton and I really cannot find any answered issue like this one...If its an obvious question already asked I'm really sorry...What do I need to do to get episodes 2 3 and 4 onto disc...Thanks everybody....Pidkam

You need to rip the whole dvd to hd. Then in the conversion tab, choose each of the 4 times in the drop down. You only got the first one. There are 3 more if you look. You need to do each one individually.

 I'm trying to do the same thing with disc one/second season of the Sopranos. I've ripped the disc to my hard drive, and I see the four different times in the drop down menu of the conversion tab, but regardless of which one I choose, I always end up with the second episode. I've tried a bunch of different things, and eventually got the fourth episode as well, but I haven't had any luck with the first or third episodes on the disc - and I'm not really sure what I did differently to get the fourth episode. If anybody has worked out this problem and can give me specific directions on how I can encode the first and third episodes, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try enabling Internal Ripping

Thanks for the speedy reply. I enabled internal ripping, but when it gets to the end of the rip, there's an "I/O error 103" message.
Would it matter that the DVD is already ripped to my D drive while DVD2SVCD is on my C drive? What else should I check for? Thanks again.

If dvd2svcd's suggestion doesn't succeed, try this:
You have to rip each episode individually. Latest "series" DVDs are a little tricky.
Use SmartRipper (preferably 2.35. Don't ask why...)
Use "Movie" ripping method.
Enable Stream Processing -(all options)
Go to Settings/File Splitting check: Max Filesize
Now, in "Source" all the episodes in the DVD will show. Sometimes duplicates appear. Only the first to appear are the correct (check the times).
Rip one episode at a time.
This is a method I found the hard way (trial and error, error, error...)
Good Luck!!

On any disk with say 3 or 4 episodes of the Sopranos DVD2SVCD will always default to THE LONGEST episode. You must manually select which of the 3 or 4 you want in the movie length dropdown tab.
A small glitch in DVD2SVCD that I found is that if you DO select a shorter episode DO NOT hit another TAB like the bitrate or CCE BEFORE you hit the GO button. If YOU DO, the movie length in the conversion tab will DEFAULT BACK AGAIN to the LONGEST episode !!

I've read thru this thread and already ripped the Sopranos 2nd season disc1 using DVD Decrypter 3.0...No matter what times I select, it appears that it is encoding the WHOLE disc (over 3hours)instead of just the episodes
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Thanks,
Geo

I used internal routines as BUZZARD did above and I got all 13 episodes with no problem - Just select each episode from the movie length dropdown in the conversion tab in DVD2SVCD .. I know that some people favor different ripping programs but in this case I don't see any need to use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter. Internal routines will work fine ..

I ripped all of season 3 with no problem using the "select the play times/rip to different directories" way worked great. Now onto season 1. The first 3 DVD's ripped fine doing the above method. Disc 4 ep 13 is a different story I ripped to the HD . It goes thru up to encodeing using CCE. Here is my log. All my other rips proceeded past this point with no problem. Final burns look very good. On recovery CCE runs does one pass and stops with no error that I can see. Sorry for the long post.

Good Luck!!
This is also the method I've used for DVD's that have episodes. Couldn't find another way. Works out ok though, lets me control how many eps per CD I want. Usually 2.

The above method confirmed with the latest Farscape DVDs (Volumes 3.9, 3.10). Those babies were toughies!! I always try internal routines first on all my rips, because the above mentioned way (trial and error, error, error) also convinced me that D2S is the BEST ripping method, but on these DVDs, no way it could tell the episodes apart.
Also an addition:
If one wants 100% d2s compatible rips (Incompatibilities between Smartripper-D2S resulting in no Chapters and sometimes no subs), one can re-rip the already ripped episodes with D2S. It's fast, because they are already on disc.
Just my 2 Euro cents... ;)

If it's been said once here it's been said a thousand times.
If you use any other ripper outside of what DVD2SVCD has you are going to have issues with sync, subs, chapters and other possible items.
Does this happen every time, no, but it does happen enough that there is a definate pattern.
Re-ripping does not fix the problem in the majority of cases.
Say what you will elsewhere, but this is the forum for and by DVD2SVCD and he has asked us all not to use any other rippers. Especially not DVD decrpypter which seems to be a problem 90% of the time. If you are unable to get the two included to work then as a last resort try SmartRipper. Use what you want yourself, but please do not confuse the newer members with contradictory info. We do not say this without cause and proof.
@pidkam first and foremost make sure you have the latest version of DVD2SVCD. 1.05 is many releases behind. We are currently at 1.09.B3 and 1.10.B1 is soon to be released.

I agree 100% with markrb. I'm only sorry that my two postings may indeed lead newbies to wrong conclusions. The method stated by me on the 6th posting of this thread, some time ago, and is confirmed two posts above is to be used only as a last resort and only in case of "tough" Series DVDs. If one gets to that point, one tends to accept (occasional, but easy to overcome) glitches as no chapters or subs.
So far on over 200 convertions of regular movies, (except on my first "rebel" encodings...) internal routines have NEVER failed me. I can't even remember if I have ever been forced to use Vstrip..Even regular series dvds get ripped OK with them. But lately I found that some companies have gone to include all the episodes in 1 IFO, and that confuses the procedure. And then I go to the last resort, but ONLY THEN, and then again, I doublecheck the finished result before I burn it.
Sorry again for the possible confusion (and the understandable irritation in the Moderator community :) )I may have caused.
