Help with MPC application error

I cannot seem to run Media Player Classic anymore. I've tried the latest builds from the various threads on this forum, but each time I try and run MPC I get the following error:

mplayerc.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Sometimes restarting my system helps, but then the problem keep creeping up. My system is running WinXP SP-2. Any ideas? Thanks

Chances are you have a bad decoder. Did you install any codecs, filters, codec packs, or video converting software right before this started happening? If so, uninstall and see if it goes away.

If it doesn't, start with the CCCP Insurgent to look for rogue codecs & packs and try to remove them.
