View Full Version : What matrix does Quenc use by default?

Hi!

I am doing a small comparison between Quenc and HC in terms of encoding speed and output quality, so that I can decide which one better suits my needs.
But for comparison to be fair, I suppose that matrix used in both cases must be the same. However, while in case of HC I know what matrix is used (from 'Matrix' tab), I have no clue about matrix in Quenc.
So could you please tell me about matrix in Quenc? Is it the same as "MPEG STANDARD" in HC, or is it same as "MPEG" in HC, or completely different from these?

Regards,
Irakli.

QuEnc uses as far I know, by default, "MPEG STANDARD" (all the inter part are 16's). It is CCE's MPEG STANDARD.

In HC, "MPEG" is CCE's standard matrix (lower right coner in inter is 33) and "MPEG STANDARD" is CCE's MPEG matrix (same as above).

If you look HC's docs, you'll see them right the first two.

Also if you want to see what matrix uses, use DGIndex to log quantization matrices.

Hope it helps you :).

Regards.

Thanks for help, especially with idea of using GDIndex.
:thanks:
