I just finished filtering a capture of simpsons to a huffy avi. I plan on doing a 2-pass with divx4.12 next. I normally make 2 diffrent sized files, a 160mb and a 345mb file. For each one I do a seperate 2-pass 1st pass log. Now it takes me 2 hrs to encode 1 pass.

Im wondering If a I could the log I already made, and just use to to encode the file again at a higher bitrate.

From: Divx4.12 help file
"You can also use different values for “bitrate” in first and second passes, but if they differ much (e.g. 200 vs. 900 kbps), the encoder may have problems achieving the file size you want."

I always make first pass with ~2 times higher bitrate. It goves better picture quality.
File size is then usually longer for some 5-8 % than when use same bitrate.
So, you can freely use same log file. But watch that you give in first pass at least so high bitrate as for your longer 2 pass.
