It's been a very long time since I have come across a dvd that can stop ripit4me. Here is the long and gory log from the rip window:

Since there has been a similar post elsewhere, I am assuming this is not a smudged disc problem. The disc also confounds dvd decrypter, with some message about vts_13 parsing problem:

ParseVTSM Runtime Exception!
File VTS_13_0.IFO
Message = EAccessViolation

Since I did not have time to waste on this rip, I resorted to a main movie rip using SmartRipper v. 2.4.1. Then I ran FixVts on the vob files. For some reason, I also used IfoEdit 9.7 to regenerate the ifo file, before passing on the whole mess to DVD Shrink. I also tried Instant Copy on an alternate build of the disc. Hope this helps those of you attempting to back up the disc. Until someone figures out a better method. Very juvenile of New Line to put in this form of copy protection. LOL.

Update: Just read setarip's comment about DVD95Copy being able to handle this disc. Will try in a day to verify that this program works against this disc.

@Ollie W. Holmes

Hi!

Please be good enough to post back here, to let us know whether DVD95Copy handled this title properly - and, if it's not too much trouble, please post a list of ALL (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs) of the filenames and filesizes in the "VIDEO_TS" folder of the ORIGINAL DVD...

**EDIT** BTW - The latest version of DVD95CopyPro is v.3.9.109

Like you suspected, there is something very fishy about the directory structure, with repeating entries for VTS_02_1.VOB. This does show up in explorer, when you sort by date or name, but other than a screen grab, I don't have a way to extract that. I have never seen anything like this before. At least when you do a dos directory of other dvds, there are no repeating file entries. Call this specimen a dvd9 on steroids. Or a weird drug.

In the root system we have:

Hope this helps. Heaven help us if the bonus software contains a rootkit.

As for anydvd, my version is way out of date (i.e., expired by now), so I won't be able to test if that works.

It looks like the same general concept used with other recently released "New Line" DVDs - Duplicate .VOB reference, absurdly sized .IFOs and .BUPs, mismatched sizes of corresponding .IFOs and .BUPs.

Do let us know how DVD95CopyPro works out...

From my own experience, the root directory files all seem to be (legitimately) related to the annoying "InterActual Player"...

If you open the DVD in ISOBuster and examine the Joliet filesystem, I bet it will be intact - only the ISO9660 and Micro UDF filesystems will be corrupt. And in all 3 FSs, VIDEO_TS.IFO will be at the same sector (as the DVD must search for this file and find the sectors for each VTS from the PTT_SRPT table).

As setarip_old says, this is similar to the recent New Line releases, which builds on work done 2 years ago by Junior73.

As setarip_old says, this is similar to the recent New Line releasesNo. This thread is about yet another "New Line" release. To be precise, I said:It looks like the same general concept used with other recently released "New Line" DVDsThusfar, in Region1, starting with "Blade - House of Chthon", ONLY "New Line" releases have appeared with this type of protection...

DVD95Copy (the 2006 demo version) partially works on this disc. It spits out a message "Unable to create VOB file 3" and says it can't write the non-existent ifo file VTS_14_0.IFO. There is no way to verify that titleset 2 (main movie) as extracted by the demo software plays properly since they obfuscate headers or pointers in the files to prevent local hard disk playback and diy shrinking. I will defer to another user the question about whether the latest paid version of DVD95Copy Pro works with this title, in all particulars.

For those who choose to use the "free" approach to backing up this disc, beware that certain chapters (e.g., chap. 3- 16) get repeated by the smartripper extraction. The main movie only has 17 chapters. With an old tool like this, I suppose anything can happen.

One free "modern" solution, recommended by setarip_old and others in previous threads is DVDFabHDDecrypter v 3.2.10. Seems to work great on this disc, with a little bit of trimming using Vobblanker. There are read I/O complaints from DVDFabHDDecrypter, but I just ignored or aborted out of these.

DVD95Copy (the 2006 demo version) partially works on this disc.That is a very much outdated version that pre-dates, and I could've guaranteed would not have been successful regarding, the very recent protection scheme employed on the "New Line" DVDs.

Since I have no personal interest in this particular DVD, I guess I'll also "defer to another user the question about whether the latest paid version of DVD95Copy Pro works with this title" (Although I'm fairly sure it will prove to handle it properly) ;>}

I have been having the same problem with this movie also. So far no other problem with any others. I use Ripit4me also, and I just want to know if you got any answers. Seems nothing I have read helps.
Thanks, Judyswolf

I used (AnyDVD Ripper) then after that I used Shrink, and DVD decrip to finish, it was great and it worked. That was a New Line Release also.

ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) uses the burning engine in DVD Decrypter with many updates. It is recommended to use ImgBurn for burning :)

Indeed.

If you use AnyDVD to rip, Shrink to process from the HDD I'd then use ImgBurn to burn the result. ImgBurn is the evolution of DVD Decrypter minus the decrypting abilities.

Essentially, up to now, all the new New Line movies utilizing the X-Protect copy protection have apparently been nearly the same in how it has been dealt with. Unlike some discs with displaying an insane size of 80+ GB all the New Line X-Protect discs show around 11 GB. This includes Blade - House of Chthon, Flight of the Living Dead, Full of It, Normal Adolescent Behavior: Havoc 2, and El Cantante.
