Does anyone know why no version of VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or VirtualDubMPEG2 recognizes my installed WMV8 codec?
Oddly, although it is recognized by good ol' Windows Media Player 6.4 and Windows Media Player 9, it doesn't appear in the list of Video Codecs in the Control Panel...

This codec it's VfW or DMO?
VirtualDub required VfW video codecs - not use DirectShow and DMO.
You can use ffdshow VfW wrapper (or AVS script (DirectShowSource) of course).
I'm see... Microsoft release only WMV9 VfW - WMV7 and 8 only exist as DMO.
Most video players (WMP, ...) use DirectShow.
