I'm using a hauppage wintv card under windows Xp.
The connectors are 1 stereo composite cable for the audio and 1 for the video. I tried to capture with virtualdub, Avi_io, and windows media encoder but i don't get any audio in my avi file.
With the same configuration i could capture normally under winMe.
Any suggestions ?

Is the audio cable connected directly to your sound card's line-in jack? Do you have line-in (and only line-in) enabled in both Windows' recording mixer and the mixer for your sound card?

Furthermore: Do you use the WDM drivers? If yes, switch to the VfW drivers. I had sound problems using the XP WDM drivers from the Hauppauge web site.

I've downloaded the new VfW drivers from hauppauge web site and now i get the following errors when i start virtualDub:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1.error 418: capture driver is not installed properly

2.Virtualdub error connect to the desired capture driver. Trying all available driver
Also now i can't set a capture resolution above 384x288(PAL)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
With the old WDM drivers i didn't get any errors.

oops:eek: i just checked in the control panel and the capture was set to the microphone and not to the line in. I could hear the audio when i was watching Tv on the Pc so i didn't thought that.

You'll often see that error message when switching drivers. You have to make sure you select the new driver and set it up as the default in the options. Which driver do you have selected in the bottom of the Video menu while in capture mode?
