This is a working method for me.
MainConcept H.264 V 2.10
Xmuxer PRO v 2.2
TS Remux 0.016
is really quite simple, encode your videos with MainConcept make sure you don't change the pulldown. If the video is at 23.976 leave it at that or if it is at 29.99 fps. If you set the flags it will mess the encoding this is why it won't work to encode HD-DVDs.
after you encode you will have a .avc video Mux together the .avc & .ac3 now you will end with a .ts file.
Fireup TS Remux enter the file, select the two streams and select "Bluray". This will create the file structure you need to burn in your DVD-5 or DVD-9.
Video is perfect lip sync, quality is great.
Note: I do play my videos with my Sony Living System that has been equipped with a Nvidia 8500 card. This card accelerates H.264 video meaning the CPU stays at a 8% when playing AVCHD. I also have the BDP-S1 which plays them fine. Good luck
