View Full Version : Free M-JPEG codec? (problems with Morgan)

I wasn't sure which forum section was right, but this one mentions M-JPEG most often, so...

Is there a truly free M-JPEG codec available?

I have the (paid for) Morgan Multimedia M-JPEG codec on my system. It's developed a fault where 320x240 content is decoded fine, but 640x480 content is decoded as the top half of the frame only, stretched to fill the full frame!

I've uninstalled and re-installed, but no change. It used to work fine, it works OK on other PCs, but short of re-installing XP and hoping the problem doesn't come back, I don't know what to do. (Their tech support ignored me).

So, is there a free alternative? Or a way of fixing this?

Many thanks.

David.

free m-jpeg ? i think the closest to that could be the ffdshow vfw internal codec, but im not sure about its output quality or standard compliance, if that matters to you

Great idea! I'm sure it'll be good enough for what I want.

Cheers,
David.

Question: How do I make TMPGEnc and Windows Media Encoder use the ffdshow decoder? Media Player Classic is happy with it, but the encoders are seeing (or, when it's gone, not seeing) the Morgan Multimedia one only.

Cheers,
David.
