In somewhat of a surprise (at least to me), today's Disney sellthrough-only release of the two disc "40th Anniversary Platinum Edition of The Jungle Book" not only doesn't contain any new copy protection schemes, it doesn't even contain either of Disney's usual "RipGuard" schemes.

Although you can get a 100% perfect rip by using only DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4, you'll probably want to use RipIt4Me, or possibly VOBBlanker, to eliminate the almost 1Gb padding only "VIDEO_TS.VOB"...

***EDIT*** Also, no protection (other than standard CSS and Macrovision) on "Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer"

In Japan, Disney starts to release DVDs wth RipGuard from August 2006. "Brother Bear 2", "8 Below", "Little Marmaid", "Cars" etc.
And stop to release with RipGuard in November, and announce the reason is some player can't replay correctly. It is interesting that last "Cars" was released both with and witout RipGuad.

Regards.

Interesting.

I wonder have Disney decided that it's a waste of money paying out royalties on protection systems that they no longer consider effective.
