I had a movie clip and a *.ssa file. I was trying to add the subtitles in the *.ssa file to the movie. This is what I did:

1) Launched VirtualDub
2) File->Open and open the Video
3) Video->Filter to configure the "subtitler" filter (Opened the the created .ssa file)
4) File->Start Frame Server to start the farme server. (I installed the VirtualDub "handler" before hand)
5) In the Frame Server Save dialog saved the file as "Test.vdr"
6) Then a window appeared, and it said Frameclients installed: AVIFile only. (I didn't close this window)
7) Then I Launched TMPGEnc
8) But when I tried to open the "Test.vdr" I created earlier. It gives an error.

So please can anyone help me with this? What could I have done wrong? Is there any other method to add subtitles (*.ssa) to a movie?

Thanx.

You must name it "Test.vdr.avi"

I tried this out, but it doesn't work. Is there something else that I can do?

did you run proxyon.reg?

No I didn't run proxyon.reg. Where is it"

But somewhere I read that I have to:

"change the settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow and increase the priority to 1 and try open the video."

I did this but still it didn't work. Only thing is that now Tmpeg freezes when I'm trying to open the "vdr" file.

In the virtualdub directory there will be an aviproxy folder. It is in there.

I'll try that out.

But there is something else that I want to check with U. After opening the video clip and the subtitler filter from VirtualDub and before starting the frameserver I pressed F5 to preview what I have made (from VirtualDub).

I can only see the video clip but not the subtitles. I thought it was normal at first but one of my friens has the same video clip and the same SSA file but when he press F5 he can see the subtitles. What could be the reason for this.

Thanx mate! for all the help. I figured it out, none of these work on win95 but it works on win2K.
