View Full Version : Wondering If I'm running into a New Encryption Meathod or Defective DVD

Hi Everyone,

- I recently downloaded a copy of Ripit4me to crack the encrypted movies I've been trying to get. I tried to use it on the movie "Deja Vu" and it ripped it with out problems, until I played it back, for one of the chapters (chapter 12 or so I think) - the audio was playing but the movie was all of the sudden showing some of the DVD Extras (The making of /behind the scenes type stuff) which I did not extract - I only extracted the main movie. - It continued to show this along to the movie audio for the rest of that chapter, then went back to showing the regular movie again matched up to the movie audio.
Has anyone heard of this happening? Does anyone know if this is a new copy protection scheme by the powers that be - or do you think the original source DVD was defective? I know this is a 2007 movie - and the powers that be have been trying some new protection schemes out this year. - If it is a new copy protection scheme - any suggestions for other programs other than Ripit4me that may work for this? - Like I said before - Ripit4me burned the movie without recognizing any problems, and I tried playing the source DVD on a DVD player and it played fine.
Any help would be great thanks.

Hi!

As was posted elsewhere in these forums:For "DejaVu", you must be referring to the 2:43 "Surveillance Window" version, as opposed to the 2:06 primary movie version...All rippers default to the longest movie on the disc. If you pick the 2h version instead of the 2h 15min or so the ripper picks as default everything will be perfect.

Thanks Setarip_old - for letting me know what was going on there, I didn't even notice the different versions.

very much appreciated
I'm a newbie to this forum and to the burning thing - just started this summer - this forum has been really helpful.

Sincerely

It's not every program that can cope with processing this disc either after ripping as it uses interleaved multi-angle titlesets.

I had to use PgcEdit to remove unwanted content on this one prior to processing as VobBlanker and other software can't deal with ILV multi-angle titlesets.

An interesting exercise though as it's the first time I'd seen this.

RipIt4Me handled (as "danased8" has discovered) "Deja Vu" without difficulty...

Wombler makes a good and interesting point. The ILVUs, if not muxed properly can give bad playback. A good idea, if only one PGC is being kept is to remove ILVUs. IfoEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/IfoEdit) is excellent for this.

That's one piece of software that I haven't as yet taken the time to familiarise myself with.

I initially had a few abortive attempts with this movie before I realised what what was going on and figured out a workaround but if IfoEdit is particularly good for this then I think I'll have to add it to my collection.

Yet another thing to keep me entertained for a while. :)
