View Full Version : Ripping Programs

Hi all
I'm just a newbie in here, so please forgive me if i am asking something that has been asked previously.
I've been ripping/burning movies for some time now, and i rely almost solely on Shrink.
Very rarely, i'll get a movie i can't crack, and for those, i try RipIt4Me or AnyDVD, or Decrypter, which will generally do the job that Shrink alone can't do.
Lately though, mainly with 2007 movies, i have had several movies that NONE of the above programs will crack.
My usual way of doing things is to rip to my hard drive first, and it works well for me, and i am comfortable doing it this way.
My question is (and please keep in mind that whilst computer literate, i'm not a "geek" familiar with all the terminolgy)....
It seems that a lot of new movies are now coming out with enhanced encryption/Rip protection, making it even harder to rip movies with the programs that i use. (Shrink, Decrypter, AnyDVD, RipIt4Me)
Is there a program out there that will crack these newer movies, and allow me to rip to the hard drive ?
Thanks heaps guys, and i look forward to any replies.

Hi!
1) As of today, there is ONLY ONE copy protection scheme that "RipIt4Me" is unable to process - and that is the scheme that has just begun to be used by New Line Entertainment (Time-Warner-AOL). This type of protection had previously only been seen on less than a handful of small German releases. The two New Line releases I am aware of are both Region 1 (North America) - "Blade - House of Chthon" and "Full of It".
2) As of today, this new copy protection scheme CAN be properly processed by DVD95Copy v.3.9.103, to which I can personally attest - and other posters have stated that the latest release of DVDFab HD Decrypter and a so-far-non-public beta version of AnyDVD are also capable of handling it.

Gday "setarip_old"
Thank you for that heads up, and i will certainly digest it.
By the way, and in case you haven't worked it out by the, "Gday", i'm an aussie. :):)
In the past several days, i have installed and ran several programs to try and crack a couple of certain movies ("Catch And Release" is 1 of them) all to no avail.
I have even tried that DVDFab, but i couldn't quite work out how to use it.
As explained earlier, i am used to ripping to my hard drive, then Shrinking/backing up/copying via Shrink, so i am very comfortable with that particular process, and would hate to change.
From what i could work out, DVD Fab didn't actually rip to the hard drive, but hey, i'm just a dumb aussie convict, so i was probably doing the wrong thing.
I'll hunt down a copy of DVD95Copy v.3.9.103 as you suggested, and give that a go when my normal way of doing things doesn't work.
I assume this program cracks them and allows you to rip to the HD ?
Once again, thanks very much for the info, and after having read Dooms brilliantly written piece on what amounted to people simply coming in here, having their problems solved, than decamping ungratefully without having put anything into this forum, i intend NOT to be one of those.
Any experiences i have with burning/ripping etc, i am happy to share.

Give DVDFab HD another try. It will send your rip wherever you designate it, not just to the default folder. Its free, 95Copy isn't.

Yeah I'd second that. There's no point in buying something until you've tried the free route first.
DVDFab HD Decrypter works very well too.

Thanks Oj and Womb, i'll give Fab another bash and see how i go.
I'll preface my next comment with, "I bought this movie from a store, have a receipt, and wish to make a personal backup copy".
I do notice though, that with the movie "Catch And Release", when i run it thru Shrink, and try to re-author it as i usually do, it shows 2 folders.
An audio TS folder and a Video TS folder.
Will Fab take care of this and make a simple/workable dvd structure ?

An audio TS folder and a Video TS folder. And if you look a little deeper, you'll discover that the "AUDIO_TS" folder is empty. This is standard structure for compliant video DVD format (Although some newer DVDs don't contain the "AUDIO_TS" folder and the vast majority of players have no problem playing such a DVD)...
BTW - You seem to have glossed over the first thing I stated in my first post to this thread:
You can use RipIt4Me to successfully deal with more than 99% of all commercial DVDs created to date - Including "Catch and Release, starring Jennifer Garner!

Gday "Rip" and others
I downloaded the new version of Fab Beta (released 30-09) and tried it, but still no go.
It gets to about 50 odd %, then tells me of a read error.
The disc is clean and is unmarked so it isn't that.
I didn't gloss over what you said about RipIt4Me, it's just that i can't seem to do this movie with Ri4M.
Being that i bought this movie and have a receipt for same, and that i simply want to make a backup copy for personal use, some kind soul (Hi setarip_old) might like to tell me how it's done.
I know i'm being handed a subliminal message here Seta, but the glasses are foggy.

Exchange the disc for a new copy. It's defective.

Hi Rip
I've tried and tried, and tried again.
If you know how to do it with Ri4Me, please advise.
I can be contacted via email if you wish.
