Hi all,
I am completely lost with all the terms etc. I just want to process my AVCHD files (.mts) taken from my Sony camcorder with VirtualDub (or Avidemux). How can I do that? I open an .mts file with Avidemux and it says "can't determine aspect ratio".
Any help would be appreicated.

What does virtual dub say?
You may want to check out this thread:

Or,
take a look DGAVCDec, by our very own Donald Graft (neuron2). I think it handles these files with out a hitch, but I am not positive.
Also, you might be able to use Mencoder to do what you want....wait what DO you want to do? When you say process do you mean convert? Filter?

@grpprod
Hi!
1) You're "hijacking" the thread of "sumpm1" - both confusing and rude
2) I'm fairly certain that VirtualDub can't process HD files, or any resolution greater than 768x576

You can use tsremux to do whatever you need with m2ts files. Not directly mux into other containers, but once you have raw avc you can put it in avi, mkv, mp4, etc. Easier to get into another program to process that way.
I've loaded 20000x10000 into virtualdub, it sucks memory like a sieve but otherwise works. ;p No support whatsoever for ts, though, you have to go through avisynth for that.

Thanks,
I downloaded tsremux, and its output is of the same format (mts). So what to do next? Can I load this to VirtualDub?

You have to right-click on the stream you want in the stream list and save it to an elementary stream. It's not yet fully integrated into the GUI. You can then mux that .264 stream with other tools.
