No silk purse from sow's ears - sorry. If you start with 2 channel, how are you gunna make it better (quality wise)?

Anyway, have a look at BeSweet.

Well you can upsample and convert to pseudo 5.1 but you can already do this dynamically with most playback software and surround sound hardware so it's not really worth the hassle.

Blutach is right, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

This might be in an entirely different can of worms, but how is Pro Logic 2 information stored in a 2 channel stream?

Forinstance, lets say I played a DVD and connected it to a sound recorder (arbitrary) via analog RCA left and right and stored it into a media file. Would there still be away of dematrixing the embedded audio streams to unfold it into 5.1?

Ive worked with BeSweet alot and its a pretty indepth program... there is alot you can do with it although Ive tended to run into odd errors with it (cant remember any off hand). There is another program, much simler and straight forward, that will make a DTS file from 6 inputs. If you want, you could duplicate the inputs across all channels and link the associated DTS file with your video file.
