Hello, my first post here and must give a big thanks to doom9 and all the wonderful info here! I have learned a lot!

I have an issue with re-muxing an x264 encode with the audio. I successfully took a vc-1 video, de-muxed the video and audio, re-encoded the video to x264 so now I'm left with an encoded x264 mkv video and the raw eac3 dd+ mpa file. The video itself plays fine using MPC, although no audio yet. I can't get the audio to play by itself.

I tried to use mkvmerge to re-mux the x264 with the eac3 audio since it now supports that format. It appears that it encodes fine but when I go to play the final output movie in MPC, it will not play. I can jump to different points on the timeline and can see still shots of the video but no go on actual playing. I have done a lot of searching but coming up empty on what could be causing this. Anyone have this similar issue?

do you have an eac3 decoder installed?

I figured that's what my problem is. I'm going to try and turn the eac3 into ac3 and see what happens. Thanks!
