The main reason I ignored VitualDub and switched to VirtualDubMod was because VirtualDub only gave me the choice of source or WAV audio while MOD gave me many more options, including MP3.
But mod has been dead or a while now and shows no signs of coming back, VirtualDub is still being updated.
Does VirtualDub have a way of supporting me using an mp3 file for my audio track or no?

Not that I know of Cyber Ak, but you can easily convert an MP3 into a wav, which it does support..I use DB poweramp, but I'm sure there are plenty of other programmes available.

Well yeah, but the whole purpose of this is because I work on the video and audio seperately then mux them together, using WAV audio instead of MP3 would dramatically increase the filesize.
Ok, I guess I will have to stick with the outdated version of VirtualDubMod then, thanks.

VirtualDub...
Convert to WAV it's unnecessary.
Possible make 'fake' WAV file - WaveMP3 (http://home.hccnet.nl/p.luijer/others.html#wavemp3) (add wav header to mp3 file).
Or... VirtualDub-MPEG2 (http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/) (latest ver. 1.6.19 b24571) - can import wav, mpa, mp2, mp3 and ac3.
Waiting for mod version (especially based on VD 1.7.4) ... maybe some day ...

VD-MPEG2 is the best option for mp3, but that's missing 1.7 branch niceties. For things like vorbis and aac, you might as well use avimuxgui, avidemux, or the format-specific yamb/mmg. I resigned myself to editing and muxing in separate apps a long time ago, it just seems to complicated to have everything I want in one place.

Well, so far I have only been using VBR MP3 in the AVI files I encode.
