Hi, I am trying to make a dvd from an avi file that I have but I am having problems with Tmpgenc, which I think is caused by the audio. The file loads into tmpgenc fine (I dont use a seperate file for the audio and video, I just load the video for both) , but when it comes to the page which shows the estimated file size, it makes the file incredibly large, and in the movie info it says the file is 282 mins long when it is in fact only about 90mins. I know its the audio that is causing the problem because when I use a wav created by virtualdub, the file displays correctly in tmpgenc. I know its not a big problem, but my computer never used to do this (my computer recently broke and I am trying to get the settings back to how they were). In virtualdub the file info says that the audio compression is Frauhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 codec.
Any help would be appreciated
thanks

It is because the audio is broken, it is VBR.......... Change it in virtualdub to CBR, reload into TMPGEnc and all will be OK.

Hi!
Load the .AVI you created into GSpot and post a screen capture back here...

Hi, I couldn't really get screen shot, but I'll write up the audio info from g-spot.
For audio codec it said
0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
It says I have 7 compatible codecs installed. I'm not quite sure how I have that many installed
the bitrate is
134 kb/s (67/ch, stereo) VBR
fs is 48000 Hz.
I suppose I should go about trying to uninstall some of the codecs. I have 3 fraunhofer installed, nero, lame, ffdshow and mpeg layer 3
I hope this helps
thanks for your time

Hi, I tried what you said about the printscreen but it didn't work, do you need more info than what I gave earlier?
Thanks again

Thanks for replying. When you have vbr audio do you usually get a message about it in virtualdub, saying something about rewriting the header? If it is, I used to get this message all the time before my computer broke and never had the problems with tmpgenc that I'm getting now.

Hi I think I may have fixed the problem by increasing the directshow multimedia in the vfapi plugin in enviromental settings.hopefully that will do the trick
thanks
