The catch is that they're ad-supported, and only available for a week after first aired in the US. However, this comes not long after NBC ditched Apple's iTunes as their delivery service for Amazon's Unbox, unhappy with not being able to price their own content higher than Apple was willing to sell.
Initially, it's Windows only, DRM protected to render it unviewable after a week (that'll be Windows Media then, when will they learn?;)), and, most likely, only for US viewers.
Also in the article is the news that they (NBC) plan to offer HD content through a closed P2P network in 2008.
