Hi There folks... first of all I like to say that I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I have been browsing this forum for long and finally thought to become a member so I can gain some knowledge about movie, audio ripping encoding through you guys...

Okay... I have some video files encoded by XVid with multiple audio tracks... English and Russian. The problem is Russian is the default audio track and it plays when I double click the XVid movie. Through Players like VideoLAN and MPlayer I can choose the secong audio track but Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player does not support the option to change the audio track to the other.

What I want to know is can I set English as the default audio track? And I would like to remove Russian audio track if possible. I want to save up some disk space by removing the unused Russian audio track as well. I tried many programs which detected multiple audio tracks but was not able to remove it from the XVid Avi file.

Please help me in this issue and advice me what I should do. Thank you is advance :)

Hi!What I want to know is can I set English as the default audio track? And I would like to remove Russian audio track if possible. Why did you create your XviD's (presumably from your original DVDs) including the Russian audiostream, if you don't want it?

What software and procedures did you use to create the XviD's? You should be able to repeat the procedure(s) without including the Russian audiostream...

I presume that you used AVI as container. If this is true, you could follow the following lossless procedure:

1. Download, decompress and execute VirtualDubMod. Open the video file. If it pops a dialog about rewriting MP3 header, click No
2. Menu: Video --> Direct stream copy
3. Menu: Streams --> Stream list. Double click the unwanted audio stream. This will turn it to a grey/striped pattern, indicating that it is deactivated. Click OK
4. Menu: File --> Save As.... Choose a new path and/or filename for the output file and click OK
