Hi - I've been trying to IVTC this dvd I have, but I get motion-stuttering - you know? where the motion is supposed to be fluid, it's "stuttering/jaggy/choppy" - and it's really bothering me because I *know* that it can be done well.

Here are 3 places our of the video where the motion stuttering is REALLY visible once I do IVTC on it:

http://darkuti.net/internal%20team%20files/part1.m2v
10mb
http://darkuti.net/internal%20team%20files/part2.m2v
13mb
http://darkuti.net/internal%20team%20files/part3.m2v
7mb

(check sizes, sometimes downloads break from my server and need a download manager, though shouldn't happen now).

Now, here's the information once dgindex is done with "proccessing" the whole 1st episode:

Things which I tried to rectify the problem:

1)2-pass Tdecimate (to make it vfr) --> didn't help at all.
2)normal Tdecimate mode 1 --> super choppy movement
3)Hybrid 1, mode 1 ---> mostly solves the problem, but there are some ghosts(which is what's hybrid =1 is about I suppose) - BUT - still choppy at some places!

This line works best for me (from number 3):

tfm(d2v=d2vpath,order=1,Mode=5, pp=6, field=1, slow=2)
TDecimate(mode=1, hybrid=1, denoise=true, cycler=1, cycle = 5, dupThresh=0.9,vidThresh=0.9, sceneThresh=12,vidDetect=4, conCycle=1,sdlim=3)

BUT - I know for sure that you don't even need hybrid =1 on it, since I saw a certain person encode it in such a way that it's 23.976, not vfr, no ghosting, and the movement is super smooth there.

If I use Hybrid=3, it's all nice and smooth, but it's 29.970...

I encoded the episode ~20 times before coming here, I pretty much tried all I know(which is not much at all) - hopefully somebody can help me with this...

These are pure 30fps sections and should not be decimated.

YET, I saw a person make 23.976 from the same source, and the motion there is super fluid(no choppyness like I get) - and besides, don't look too much on what dgindex shows - it's not always accurate(AFAIK).

You sure that source is 24fps? Counted/compared frame by frame?

It appears like I was wrong :), I talked to the guy who made the other encode - and he explained it all well to me...

OP/ED = 23.976P
Main video = 29.970(which as far as I understood was 29.970P made into 29.970I)

To tell you the truth I'm all confused but somewhat I am more enlightened... My core understanding of the telecine process is somewhat incomplete - I think, which prevents me from understanding completly what he said - but I think I can manage now - still suggestions are welcome :).

(what he did was manually in yatta set which parts are 23.976 and which are 29.970) - the op being 23.976 - rest 29.970... his IS VFR... I jsut didn't see it somehow...

I'm all confused now to tell you the truth - I'll just go read some more and sleep on it...
