View Full Version : Problems burning XVID files

This may be the wrong to post this thread but please advise if this question can't be answered here.

I seem to have successfully created some new XVID encoded AVI files since they play OK on my PC. I wanted to try & see how they would look on my large LCD screen which is in another room & to this end I was going to use Nero to just burn a data disks which my DVD players are all capable of playing. I decided to use Sony R/W disks for this purpose but as soon as the disk was inserted in burner & noticed that burner light keeps flashing on & off as if trying to read. I know the disk has nothing on it since I had just opened package. Even though Nero tells me that the disk is empty, I did an erase & then tried to do the burn. Every time I try this it says that I don't have a disk in the burner.

I have tried several other R/W disks & the results is always the same the programs can't find the disk. Is this apt to be a fault of my LG burner ? Another strange thing is that if I were to boot up while these disks are in my burner that PC never boots up but instead just flashes the light at me as if it were trying to boot from this disk. If I eject the disk the PC boots up OK. I can still boot up with a blank disk in the machine as long as its not a R/W one. Is the burner stuffed or am I likely to have defective disks or should I be looking elsewhere for a solution?

Thanks in Advance

Hi!

Perhaps the R/W has to first be formatted?

As setarip says.
Also, is the cdrw multisession or still open (not closed) ?

Are you certain you didn't accidentally purchase a DVD-RW disk and are trying it in a CD writer?
