video time longer then actual length of video

is there any kind of fix. on a couple of the videos im trying to encode, which i riped from chapters of a dvd, show up at anywhere from 48 mins to an hour and 40 mins. the problem is that each video i riped from it is only 24 minutes. i tried Avidemux which when in the program it showed it as 24 minutes but when i saved it it was the same time as the as before and not the 24 minutes. also after the video goes past the end of the video were it is just blank the player freezes and you cant even close it from the program it self.

Try ripping in IFO mode using DVD Decrypter, and load the .VOB instead of the .IFO file when encoding.

i was using the ifo because of the subs. is there an easy way to mux the subs in. i cant mux the idx or sub file with avimux. if it helps im using x264 in a mkv container.

well im having another problem. i riped the epsiode from the vob instead of the ifo. but now the sub titles start right when the video is over.
