Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to edit an MKV file to change flip the order of the default audio track on MPC? (i.e. Track 1 to Track 2 and vice versa).
And is AVI-Mux GUI mentioned on the FAQ thread still the recommended way to merge MKV files?
Thanks.

Okay, AVI-Mux GUI enabled me to change the default order of audio tracks. I've also been able to merge MKV files with it BUT there for some reason, the output is 25.43fps, as opposed to 29.97fps in the source. Could someone please tell me why this is the case?

if you are sure of this change make a bug report to Noe
... also.. mmg.exe (part of mkvtoolnix) is able to do the same

Thanks. I'll try again. It seems to do a good job at joining AVI. Do you know if it is equivalent to VitualDub's direct stream copy?

yes!
no encoding is done, only copy of streams :)

Thanks! mmg.exe managed to join the MKV files without the problem. So unless there is something wrong with my AVI-Mux GUI's setting (I left everything at default, and it joins AVI files fine), then maybe there is a little bug here. What sort of information would be useful to Noe if I want to report this issue?

try to collect all info about the stream (avinaptic report is a start)
also a fragment of mkv able to replicate the problem could be handy for debug pourpose (cut with mkvtoolnix)

Is it possible to use AVIMuxGUI to convert containers from MKV to AVI in one step? For the life of me I cannot find a way to do it....
Sorry for the newbie question, but I got myself a PMP that plays only AVIs and my movie collection is in MKV...
Thanks!!

not possible..
use ffmpeg
ffmpeg.exe -i video.mkv -acodec copy -vcodec copy video.avi

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but for some reason I get a file that has defects in the video and I got a bunch of errors in the command prompt. I have absolutely no idea why this happens and what the error messages mean and unfortunately it is a bit overwhelming to me.
I took another route: extract the streams with mkvextract and mux audio and video with avimuxgui. Apparently it works...
Thanks anyway.
