Video_TS file problem

I have purchased a new dvd which gets stuck after FBI warnings played.... when I press Play chapers on remote, movie starts playing but I am not able to get the MENU.

when I played on PC, after FBI warnings, there is a black screen which plays continously and no menu visible ... though VTS_01_0.VOB has beautiful menu ... but sadly, its not coming while playing on SAP or playing the disc on PC

I checked on PC ... Video_TS file is completely black ...

pls help me fix this problem

What you said is not sufficient to help you.
Try to locate the looping part with PgcEdit in trace mode. Select that looping PGC in the left pane, and go to the "Info -> PGC" menu. Post the output here.

BTW, a totally black VIDEO_TS.VOB is not unusual.

What DVD is this? Maybe someone had the very same problem and can post what he did to fix it.

I dont have any experience in PGC ... but here is what i did

open PGC -> select trace mode -> open DVD

it shown some messages and I selected "yes to all"

when it finished scanning ...

I selected "VMG , First Play PGC" - Right click & "info PGC"

No, you have to enter trace mode, from the Trace menu. Then, click the "---> Run" button in the bottom of the window.
PgcEdit will simulate the navigation of your DVD. Close the preview when needed.
Observe the top left pane. At some point, you should see the same PGC (or PGCs) that is (are) played endlessly. That are the interesting PGC(s). We need info about them. Click "Break" to stop the trace, select the interesting PGCs, and copy/paste the info as you did for the First-Play PGC.

It might also be interesting to know which error messages and warnings PgcEdit displays when it loads the DVD. (Right-click on the error message dialog to copy its content to the clipboard.)
We don't need the messages related to "Domain Stream Attributes", as they are harmless, from the navigation point of view.

Also, how did you copy the DVD? Which ripper have you used?

@ r0lZ - i just copy pasted Video_TS folderYou might want to try a good ripper, such as FVD Decrypter. The problem might be caused by some remaining protection.
Anyway, many commercial DVDs are CSS encrypted, and you cannot simply copy them, as it will be impossible to play the copy. However, since you can play the movie, I don't think it's the problem here.

thx for reply bro... i will try ur earlier reply in weekends ... been very hectic recently.

the problem was not with copying ... I get black screen while playing disc from my dvd drive (as movie) ... and also on SAP, it hangs, i have to select play next chapter so as it plays movie directly ... but menu is not accessible.

OK ... here is what I did this time ....

Open DVD (it scanned all vobs and then OK without any errors)
Trace -> Trace Mode
Select "Run" from bottom ... it did run something and then Preview window comes (its normal menu pic ... not black one)

I closed preview window and here is the screen I get

The navigation commands seems OK, but the playback time of VTSM 1, LU 1, PGCs 11 and 12 are illegal. 0:00:00:09 is too short. (However, the cell duration, 0:00:00.12 is correct.) Try to kill those two PGCs.

Select the PGC "VTSM 1, LU 1 (en), 11 (0:00)" and then use the menu "PGC -> Kill PGC Playback". Confirm that you want to convert the PGC to a dummy. After the operation, the PGC label should be "VTSM 1, LU 1 (en), 11 (dummy)". Repeat for "VTSM 1, LU 1 (en), 12 (0:00)". Save and test.

Well, what else can you do to test?

If you want, use DVD Shrink to compress the DVD, and burn a RW. Since the movie is very long, the quality will be bad, but it's OK to test.

I did what u said bro ... I killed 11 & 12 file and tested burning ... screen is still black .. :(
