I recently burned a VCD with Nero from a file I downloaded and when I put it in my Pioneer 343 player it showed the time on the front panel instead of PCB (or was it PBC) that shows up on all my SVCD's.
I don't know if this information is usefull or in any way can apply to SVCD's, but I thought it was worth a few keystrokes to report this.

Yeah time display is fine for VCDs on my 344.
As mrbass pointed out you can get time display on SVCDs by disabling PBC (press 1 on the remote instead of play). Of course you can't skip to any chapters with pbc disabled, but if you are watching a film from beginning to end it's fine.

Hi,
Pioneer DV 340 (same as 343, but silver :D )
VCD :
Press PLAY --> PBC on --> No Time Display, Chapter working
Press 1 --> PBC off --> Time Display working, Chapter not working
SVCD :
Press PLAY --> PBC on --> No Time Display, Chapter working
Press 1 --> PBC off --> No Time Display, Chapter not working
So for SVCD-playback time display is NOT working on my DV-340
Pretty much offtopic ... but I didn't start the thread :D
