Hello, I'm pretty new to Gordian Knot so please forgive me if this is obvious, or has been already answered numerous times (I did search as thoroughly as I could however).
So basically I have a regular old DVD video that I want to convert to a x264 .OGM file with audio/chapters/subtitles/video.
I setup my program options pretty much identically to those explained in the x264 guide which is hosted here and as the guide explains, used robot4rip to make the subtitle files. m2v file, et cetera.
There's no errors during conversion and here are the files created in the directory I save the avs file to:
[Project]-1.stats
[Project]-2.stats.temp
[Project].avs
[Project].ogm
[Project]_firstpass.settings
[Project]_GKnot.log
[Project]_Movie.ogm
[Project]_secondpass.settings
vdenc.log
[Project].ogm contains the audio for the whole video in mpga format but with no video/subtitles/chapters.
[Project]_Movie.ogm is the video only with no audio/subtitles/chapters.
(BTW, the x264 video quality is MIND BLOWING for the quality! The encode I did was near-dvd quality and yet the video only ogm was a mere 457 MB! Incredible!)
In case it helps, here is a quick summary of the Gordian Knot settings I used which are mostly following the guides:
* GK: Frames set to 23.976 (originally 29.97) even though guide says it should be that already. (I had set Field_Operation to 1 in the d2v)
* GK: Container set to OGM
* GK: Codec set to x264
* GK: Audio A set to Size then "[project] Track 1 English DELAY -86ms.ac3" file chosen (created earlier with robot4rip)
* GK: Files added "[project].rar" and "[project].idx" files for subtitles (created with robot4rip)
* GK: Interleaving & AVI-Overhead set to Audio 1: vbr mp3.
* GK: Crop: Auto crop button then Smart Crop All radio button
* GK: Output Resolution: set to 98% W-Zoom which is 0.061 B(P*F), guide recommends not using anything lower than 0.17, in this case 0.17 results is a W-Zoom of 59% (very, very small resolution).
* GK: Add Chapter Info to Video checked
* GK: "[project]_ChapterX5.txt" loaded for chapters (from robot4rip) shows correctly in chapters box
* GK Save .avs: Resizing set to Selected Output Resolution
* GK Save .avs: Resize filter set to Lanczos (sharp)
* GK Save .avs: Noise Filter set to None
* GK Save .avs: Field Operations set to None
* GK Save .avs: Trim set to none
* GK Save .avs: No subtitles added here
* GK DivX (???) Encoding Control Panel: Re-calculate butrate if needed checked
* GK DivX (???) Encoding Control Panel: IVTC in avs -> correct Frame Count checked
* GK DivX (???) Encoding Control Panel: Audio source file is "[project] Track 1 English DELAY -86ms.ac3"
* GK DivX (???) Encoding Control Panel: Radio button set to MP3, 128 kBit/sec. average Bitrate
