I upsized a DV avi to 1920 x 1080i and encoded it to .mp4 with Mainconcept H.264 encoder. For the codec I selected H.264, I set profile to high and output stream to .mp4. But when I want to import the encoded .mp4 file in DVDit pro HD the program says it doesn't recognize the file and that I have to install quicktime or something. Any idea how I solve this?

does DVDit pro support the MP4 container? if it doesnt, remux the streams in another container supported by the program.

It should be able to recognize .mp4 files. It's in the list of filetypes I can select. I also encoded the same clip as "program" stream, it is than named an .mpg file. DVDit does open it but thinks its an progressive 1920 x 1088 video but in fact it is 1920 x 1080 interlaced.

I start doubting that DVDit pro is a bit "buggy"...

of course it is 1088 - this is resolution at which video was encoded, but it should be displayed at 1080.
Interlaced or progressive depends on the coding mode - not on the content. Check this stream out with http://elecard.com/products/products-pc/professional/streameye-tools/

res is ok, but it "thinks" it's progressive...

well, I don't see that video was encoded as interlaced either. If source interlaced video was encoded as progressive, than, yeah - it is progressive - and no one program can identify it as interlaced without decoding and analyzing pictures.

The source was interlaced and I encoded it as interlaced so it should be 1080i.
Why is the res ok? DVDit indicates it's 1088 but it should be 1080? I resized the avi to 1920 x 1080, not 1920 x 1088.
When I try to open the .mp4 file with the stream analyzer it says it can't detect the stream format. The .mpg file opens fine but I can't find the resolution info.
