hi dvd2svcd-fans,

i got the following problem with dvd2svcd:

when i create a svcd with dvd-chapters, my player (cyberhome ad-l 528) hangs after playing approx. half of the cd (chapter 8). the error occurs to cd 1 and cd 2.

the player doesn't show chapters in the display either - he also refers to chapter 1, but i can skip forward and back till chapter 7 without problems. (cd1: 12 chapters, cd2: 10 chapters).

with windvd 3.1 and powerdvd 4 there are no problems with the playback and chapters.

svcds made with 1.0.5 build 2 without chapters work flawlessly.

any suggestions? thanks!

G'Day -KeeK-!

It would have helped more if you gave some vital statistics such as the bitrate and codec used to rip the DVD. Also, if there was dual audio stream and subtitles. Your problem is a bit weird, though I must admit, I experienced something very similar with a movie with a Palsonic DVD3000, only to find that the problem was not there when playing through a Palsonic DVD5000 or Akai ADV1150. Therefore, my only suggestion would be to play that movie in another stand-alone and see whether it is a fault in DVD2SVCD.

Failing that, let us see the bitrate settings you used and see whether or not the experts can help.

Cheers!

hi AlibAbA,

thanks for the post.
i think this is most likely a problem with my player. unfortunately my yamakawa 715 is out of order at the moment. so i will need to try the svcds somewhere else.

i used 2-pass vbr with the standard bitrate settings of dvd2svcd. there are to 2 audiotracks and i tried with and without subtitles, but the cyberhome AD-L528 doesn't support selestable subtitles at all.

without chapters everything works fine using dvd2svcd 1.0.5 build 4. so the vcxdbuild-image-creation is faulty (unlikely) or my player is (very likely).
