View Full Version : Decrypting for both Xvid and Back Up

Hi. For the past couple of years, I have been backing up my DVD's and also creating Xvid copies for mobile viewing. I use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to rip and then use AutoGK for encoding. I always felt it was cumbersome to rip in File mode for backing up the DVD and then IFO to make Xvid versions. With DVDD no longer being updated, I need to decrypt (I'm using DVDFab Free), repackage the files in ISO, then decrypt in IFO mode using DVDD. Is there a freeware version way to decrease the number of steps I'm currently taking to create the Xvid version? Is there a way to get the same information from File mode so I don't have to rip twice? Thanks for indulging the lazy side of me (which actually encompasses the other side of me too).

RipIt4Me can decrypt in file or movie only mode, which still requires two separate rips but eliminates the middle step of repackaging to ISO.

It's a shame, however, that it won't be able to back up my newer DVD's. I have used RI4M and like it very much. It's too bad that it got shut down.

There have been no region 1 releases (yet) with a newer copy protection that RipIt4Me can't handle, so it's still perfectly usable.

Really? I had a disc (I forget which one) that had problems with RI4M. It kept stalling midway through the rip so I thought it was a new protection. That's good to know.

By the way, RI4M 1.71 came out just 8 days before getting shut down. Is there any reason not to use it (any reason for paranoia) or should one use 1.70?

Hi!

I have found v.1.64 to be the most stable version...

I remember your posts when RI4M went down. I forget why you had thought subsequent versions from 1.64 were more unstable. I wouldn't know if the program was unstable unless it crashed on me all the time. Are there some encryption version 1.64 has trouble with? Can version 1.71 be trusted given that it came out only 8 days before shut down and had an autoupdate function?

The autoupdate function is irrelevant since there are no more updates. You can still find 1.71 easily, and I think your best bet will be to try it and see if it's stable for you (It has worked flawlessly for me). You may have to ask someone to e-mail 1.64 to you if you end up needing it.

Could somebody PM a link to 1.64 please. Thank you.
