View Full Version : Ripping Just the Movie, Can't Fast Forward or Rewind.

Using CladDVD 2.0 I ripped the entire contents of The Fast and the Furious. I then copied the main movie (VTS_08_1.VOB - VTS_08_5.VOB)to a new folder. I stripped the DTS audio track (won't fit with the DD 5.1) using IFO edit .8. I then click VOB extras again and this time have it create the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP files. Apparently the new version of IFO automaticly renames your VOBs (good job!!). Then I reload my newly renamed VTS_01_0.IFO and "Get VTS Sectors". Then I load the newly created VIDEO_TS.IFO and get VTS Sectors on it. I saved them both allowing them to also create the corresponding BUP files. Plays fine on my pc and stand alone but I can't Fast Forward or Rewind. I've tried burning with Prassi Primo DVD and RecordNOW Max. This also happened with America's Sweethearts. Is this just something I have to live with or am I missing a step or did I mess something up?

You forgot to use the option 'Correct Vob-Unit pointers' in IfoEdit!
I spend 3 weeks in figuring that out!

fast and furious is multiankle-ular.

have successfully backedup 18 using the smartripper/ifoedit solution, but f&f is giving me fits.

Thanks Derrow I got it working. What problems are you having Chumboy? I was able to rip the R1 vesion of Fast and the Furious, I just couldn't fit both the DTS and DD 5.1 tracks on one disc. Plays great after I did 'Correct Vob-Unit pointers'. Are you ripping just the movie or are you trying to re-encode it and squeeze it all on one? Are you sure it's multi-angle?

I copied the VOBs (VTS_08_1.VOB - VTS_08_5.VOB) then opened VTS_08_0.IFO in IFO edit, stripped the DTS track and the French track. Then I created the new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO than at Derrow's suggestion 'Correct Vob-Unit pointers'.

Works fine.

mickeynbk,

i use the same process...little different.

smartripper - movie mode - let it strip the video, ac3 and "others"

ifo edit - open smartrippers ifo file, vob-menu, check bottom 4 choices - save new ifo files to different directory. let it do it's thing.

delete smartripper ifo file.
move new ifoedit ifo files into smartripper directory with other vob's.
rename vts_08_x to vts_01_x.
open both video_ts.ifo and vts_01.if and "get vts sectors".
save over old and let it make bup files.

..........................

had bad luck on fast/furious and scary movie2 using ifoedit 8.

went back to using ifoedit 76 and all seems to be going fine...don't know the final output yet since i'm right in the middle of test if using the older ifoedit version is better.

will keep you posted.

mickeynbk,

btw...why would you want to have both DTS and DD5.1?

only difference in what we're doing is that u use claddvd to rip ENTIRE movie and i use smartripper ripping angle only and grabbing the audio, video and other stream.

Well I need DD5.1 because my current setup doesn't support DTS and I wanted the DTS for when I upgrade. I ended up re-ripping with Smart ripper on backup. I redid the whole thing because I was having a few other glitches but they probably had something to do with the fact that I skipped the 'Correct Vob-Unit pointers' step. I burned it to a DVD-RW and it plays fine. I used IFO Edit .80.
