Hi,

I'm having an issue with a video encoded with a CXF2 codec (KLCP AVI File) importing into VirtualDub. It says "couldn't locate decompressor for format 'CXF2' unknown - requires a video for windows compatible codec to decompress video.

I have K-Lite Mega Codec pack installed and it comes with ffdshow. And as suggested in this post here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=109468), I set h264 to "libavcodec" for decode and also tried adding "vidc.h264 = ff_vfw.dll" to the registry. However, both failed.

Any ideas? Thanks

I've never heard of CXF2, I know it isn't included in ffdshow. It isn't h.264, so how would adding h.264 help? No idea how you made it, but you'll have to go back to that software to work with it.

Thanks for the reply.

The error I received was similar to the one talked about in the linked topic, so I thought it might be due to the same decompressor issue (at least you can't say I didn't try to search for related issues before posting, lol).

Anyway, the codec stands for "Conexant Falcon Video" (I think) and it's the only color-space/compression format that this capture card accepts and outputs.

I'll try to do some more searching.

If it doesn't come with the card drivers, it might not exist as a VFW codec. Maybe you could try directshowsource in avisynth? Otherwise try asking for support from the card maker.

A fix for this issue when using 720x480 can be found at: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=128189
