I've seen a few LCD TV which change the aspect ratio (from 4:3 to 16:9) of the current broadcasting depending on the image if it has black bars or not (the broadcasting is always analog 4:3).

I have always wanted that option and I don't know if I'd have to look for an specific technical name or if every brand uses their own name.

What is this feature called ??

Thanks.

That is usually called something like "auto-zoom". You can find this functionality on pretty much every LCD TV.
