hi there,

it looks like i need to replace my old pio dv-575a with a new dvd-player. any suggestions of what would be some "good"-player that'd support most formats (vcd/svcd/divx/xvid(packed-bitstream-support!)/dvd). upscaling isn't that much important to me now, as i don't have a fancy new lcd w/hdmi but an old crt instead. i thought of sth like the pio dv-696 or the 400(w/an usb connector where you can add external hdd ;) ), as my previous players from pio always had a great picture. what do you guys think?

thx

c'mon. dun be shy. i know there's a sticky but this thread doesn't help me at all in my specific situation..

btw. it seems like the pio-696 isn't avail anymore :(

If you can afford it look into the Oppo line of players. They are supposedly the best players made right now.

The new Denon DVD-1940 does everything the Oppo's can do... With superior build quality

thx. looks like a good player, a bit expensive maybe. any suggestions around the 250€ tag? 359€ isn't exactly what i'm willing to spend ;)

just in order to keep an interested reader up to date. now i've got the 1940 and it's rather unsatisfactory. dun' get me wrong pic quali is awesome, but...

can't play *.mpg
only play some *.avi (due to whatever reason)

...that's what i've found in the last few hours. it seems like i need a cheap 2nd one for those type of things. maybe the pioneer dv-400v-k will do it, or some cheap cyberhome.

guys i'd appreciate some of this info before i'd bought it ;)

but anyway :thanks:
