Hi,
Any one can help me how to setup CCE SP2 to fully use the 4 cores of a Q6600 CPU
Many thanks for your help

I think that CCE does not allow multiple instances of it running at a time. So if CCE itself does not support quad core then there is nothing DVDRB can do to use it.

You could try QuEnc or HC that should work fine with DVDRB and your quad core.

could you post any speed result with HC and your quad core (with the clock speed in case of overclocking), because I am looking to buy a Q6600...at up to 3ghz!

Cinemacraft are not yet optimized for quad core.
I have emailed Cinemacraft about this and they responded that they are working on it.

i just got a Core2 Quad Q6600 and it's great! encodes (3 passes, no filters) that used to take 2 hrs on the Pentium D 820 2.8GHz@2.9 (Burn-in mode. need every mhz i can get) take an average of under 30 minutes on the Q6600 2.4GHz@3.5. i can only imagine what cce could do if it ran at 100% utilization!

edit: i decided to run the same movie through HC best profile 3473 avg bitrate and it finished in 28 minutes, the CCE 3-pass encode took 27 minutes :)

Wow. It's amazing what directions the industry is going, isn't it? Transcoding becomes less-and-less appealing as the processing times begin to converge... these days you can get the extra quality of an encode with barely any difference.

you should try QuEnc with 1 pass vbr, no trellis or extreme and multiple encoding processes. see how fast that is for you.

indeed. it would be interesting to see what speed dynamis gets from the suggestion/test i just said. :)

I did a quick test with Matrix Revolutions Movie Only R1 on a q6600 quad core

Encoding times thru DVD-RB

CCE Basic 2 passes = 21 min

QuEnc 2 pass Nothing = 19 min

QuEnc 1 pass Nothing = 10 min

HC Best = 27 min

Rejig = 2 min

Edit: 2nd try with Rejig = 3 min

Fishman0919 - if you could try QuEnc 1 pass vbr aswell that would be interesting to see. it shouldnt take too much time. :)

Add QuEnc 1 pass to post above

quenc || high quality mode | single pass vbr | use scene detection

on my movie i got 24 minutes encode time.

procoder || mastering quality

39 minutes

my thoughts exactly.

when you said Quad 6600@3.5, does it mean you overclocked your quad 6600 at 3.5 GHZ?

wow.. what revision is yours? what mobo and cooling are you using?

Revision is G0 and I'm using the Gigabyte 3D Galaxy II Water Cooler with ASUS Striker Extreme mobo and CORSAIR Dominator DDR2 1066 mem.

EDIT: spelling

Hello.

I have a Q6600 like yours and using the ProCoder2 appear the message "...Preset Invalid...".
I hit OK and RB go on the process.
This is not good because slowdown the encode because i put RB working at night when i sleep.

Anyone have the solution? I need to wait a new version of RB?

Tks ;)

ah, i see... that Gigabyte addon thing? was thinking of giving water cooling a try.. looked like a lot of work, but the gigabyte one makes it seem a bit simpler. but i need the aurora case as well, rite?

No, you can use it with pretty much any case.... I got all the parts outside of my pc and the 2 hoses going into the pc

oh, cool. i have an antec 900. do i need to make some holes? also, does the galaxy come with waterblocks?

i think i'll stick to air for now tho ;)

Yes, it comes with a waterblock. No, no holes if you get something like this...

Many thanks for all your answers and times measurements.
I was away as I was trying to tweak my Q6600 overclock.
I can memtest stable at 3.6GHz 1.35 vcore, but too hot for orthos on air.
I'm waiting for my Swiftech H2O Ultra Apex kit then I can test some encodes...

If you have 3/8" ID-1/2" OD tubing, there's no way to get a PCI bracket as it is too narrow for 1/2" size

3/8" OD, means 1/4" ID: too much restriction on liquid flow, that is low end kit
