View Full Version : mkv File Illegal Operation

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this. If it is the wrong forum then I apologize.

My problem is when I copy a file with the .mkv extension, windows explorer gives me a illegal operation. The file contains a x.264 video file with a ac3 sound track.

I also get a illegal operation when I mux a file using mkvmerge. If I have windows explorer open in the folder I am writing to. The file muxs ok we just get a illegal operation when the file starts to write.

If we mux a file and windows explorer is closed then no problems.

We have found out that when we copy a mkv file windows explorer will get a illegal operation everytime.

If we rename the file first. Say to .avi then copy the file everything is ok. Then we just rename the file back to .mkv.

We are running Windows XP service pack 2. This happens on two different computers. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using Haali splitter (or which if not)
Have you got Explorer thumbnailing turned on in Haali options? (try off)

In any case install latest version first:
http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv 1.7.189.11

Thanks for the help. Installing the lastest version of Haali Splitter did the trick. It fixed all of the problems. I should have known better. Again thanks for the help.
