I've created a GUI for Submux. It's a tool for muxing SVCD-subs (phillips style) to your mpeg video. All functions has not been implemented yet, like adding multible subtitles to one video. I'll implement multi subs when somebody tells me how to "see" when a windows is open and when not using delphi. Here is the link: http://less.filetap.com/submux/Submux%20GUI%200.1.0.23.exe

Here it is! A fully working version of Submux GUI! http://less.filetap.com/submux/Submux%20GUI%200.1.1.1.exe I've also uploaded an example subtitle file which is handy to test if the system is working correctly: http://less.filetap.com/submux/subtitle%20examples.rar To download any of the versions go to http://less.filetap.com/submux/ Just one note the packages contains everything you need so you don't need to download submux separately.

Not one single link is working. At least for me.

Hello Latexxx, I was wondering why you say that submux does NOT support cvd subtitles in the readme.html file??? Submux has a -C switch which muxes cvd subs, and it works perfectly.... and the earliest version of VCDImager to support subs is 0.7.12pre1.

Here is the SUBMUX Gui (0.1.1)...:)

Well submux doesn't say anything about parameter -C, abut I'll test it and if it works I'll implement it. And if the links doesn't work try this: http://www.nic.fi/~lhahne/submux/

Now the -C parameter heas been implemented. Get the 0.1.1.4 version here: http://less.filetap.com/submux/Submux%20GUI%200.1.1.4.exe

Thanks a lot Latexxx for your nice tool.
But if you have the opportunity to include Vob2Sub in your gui (or a separate gui) in the future it would make life even easier. Conversion steps wouldn't be necessary because it extracts the subs in SVCD or CVD format for submux.

I'd really like to use this tool but the links just don't work for me ...

have a look at DVD2SVCD's homepage, download the SubMux package and you will find a tool called Vob2Sub.:D

I downloaded the GUI but am pretty confused on to how I am supposed to use it. When I select SUB1 - where does the subtitle file come from?
I used VOBSUB to extract the subtitle BMPs but it gave me the oddest colors since I didn't have a palette file. I do not know what structure of the palette file is. VOBSUB has a subdirectory called 'gpal' that contains a C program that supposedly extracts the palette file from the IFO. Is there an executable anywhere?
Any further explanations appreciated.

Latexxx:
Can you post a better guide on how to use your GUI for submux? I had try to use it with no results.
To extract sub titles I am using SubRip 097b. I save text as "Phillips SVCD Designer Sub".
Then I put Mpeg file(SVCD compliance) in same file as subtitles.
I also download your GUI to same file, run "Install Bat", but when I start your program it can not find the MPEG file...
Thanks,
Antonio S.

Little guide:
1. Put all your files to same folder
2. Click the open button next to "in mpeg" field and select your file. If you can not see your file try to change the filetype to all files
3. Click select next to "out mpeg" and select the output file and remember to write ".mpg" in the end of yoor filename.
4. Select sub1 checkbox and press "open" next to it and selct your subtitle file.
5. Select more subs if you need.
6. Press "start"
There is also a new version of gui and a new gui downloadable from http://less.filetap.com/submux/ ,but before installing new version of this run uninstall.bat with your current version, because some filenames has been changed.

Latexxx:
The only SubMux GUI version that works in my computer (Athlon 800 mhz with Windows ME )is the first one (Ver 1.0.23).With others version, when I press "START" nothing happens ( I check Windows System and the Autobat is working)...
The problem is that when I try to make a SVCD in VCDImager 7.12 with the new MPEG file created, I get a buflen error... So, new SVCD doesn't have subtitle.
To do sub I am using Subrip 0.97b. I am storing BMP with 8 bits (Philips SVCD default). My MPEG file is NSTC (23.976 fps). Everything works OK except subtitles...

Surely Guillepk (http://rilanparty.com/vbb/private.php?s=&action=newmessage&userid=46) can do this easyly. MaestroSBT, his creation, already has a ssa->Iauthor type convertor. All you need to do is to send him a PM asking for this. Guess will be useful to show him this (http://www.licensing.philips.com/ordering/soft/documents199.html) url, where he can download a pdf about the philips subtitles format.
so, what are you waiting for?

Hi, I have tried MaestroSBT conversion from .ssa to I-Author subtitles ready for I-Author muxing - unfortunatelly it seems MaestroSBT is not converting to I-Author correctly because I-Author by muxing shut down...

The disadvantage about the I-Author issue that it doesn't mux right (loses sync with longer sequences >40 min). I-Author is nice when you use it with MPGXMPS where you can mux yourself but when it has to mux it's worthless.

There is no way I can make your latest Gui (1.1.5) works in my computer. I use "INSTALL.BAT" and I check WINDOWS SYSTEM(32) and file are written there. I can even run program naming input file as "input.mpg", output file as "out.mpg", sub text as "SCRIPT.sub" then I can mux using "SUBRUNC.bat", but there is no Way GUI works..."IS MAKING ME CRAZY"...

Anybody else having problems?
subrunc*.bat muxes cvd subs and subrun*.bat muxes svcd subs

No problems here. The only thing I can imagine for Antonio is that the BAT files aren't driven. But then I don't know why.
Antonio - Did you always UNINSTALL before doing a new INSTALL?

To 24hourloop and Latexxx:
If I double click the "autobat" files it works. The "autobat" gave the commands to SUBMUX.exe. But if I open the SUBMUX gui, loaded it with the files, and press start, nothing happens. The only gui that works is the first one (1.0.xx). And yes I unistall and install new bat files before trying to run new gui ( I have done that about 30 times). Maybe the problem is with the system that I have (Windows ME). I think that the "regïstry" of windows assumes that "submux.exe" is in other file . When I installed new gui I check Windows/system and Windows/system32 and the 6 files are copy in both systems. For the moment I am running "SUBMUX" with the autobat.files that are included with the gui. I just rename My mpeg file as "input.file", my text.sub as "Script.sub", put all files in the same root as "submux.exe", and I can execute the program. I am going to run a program call "CLEAN REGISTRY" to see what happens. The "SUBMUX GUI" that I am trying to run is Ver 1.1.5...
Now talking about "submux", I don't know why sometimes the new MPEG created with this tool have the subtitles and sometimes not. To create my TEXT.sub I am using Subrip 0.97b using default values for Phillips SVCD Designer. If some warnings appear during the process, would this invalid the file?

At last I can make the gui works!!!
The problem with this gui (ver 1.1.5), is that to work it must be created in a "root" file. If I install it in "C:\Submux ",it works , but if I intall it in "C:\Program Files\Submux" it doesn't work...
Also my subtitles and mpeg files have to be in the root file. If not it doesn't work. The first version works in any subfile; maybe this is a bug...

I don't have any of the problems that you descriped. The only issue is that your subtitle files and mpeg's must be in same folder.

How long is this supposed to take? I am running a 1.333 Thunderbird with Win2k and it has been running for about 3 hrs and as far as I can tell it has only processed the 1st out of 3 sets of subs. The program has not locked up, its definitely still working it just seems to be taking an awfully long time.

It took my computer (800 mhz Thunderbird), to encode 1 subtitle about 6 minutes per hour of mpeg file...

I recommend to defragment your hard disc before starting the program, because submux.exe creates a copy of the original file and add the subs to it. So it's all in your hard drives performance

Well my hd is defragmented and its very fast so the problem must lie somewhere else. I'll mess around with it a bit more. Thanks.

Something very unusual occurs when I tried to use Submux with 2 subtitles. It copied both subtitles (English and French) in the same space. What I mean is that when I press "SUBTITLE 1" in my DVD player, both subtitles appears at the same time ( alternating English and French in the same picture). Then if you press "SUBTITLE 2" I get no subtitles...In the SUBMUX window it said that is processing SUBTITLE 1, then after a while It continues to process SUBTITLES 2. Also an additional MPEG files is created (TEMP1, that is SUBTITLE 1 with origibal MPEG file)...Does SUBMUX can do more than 1 subtitles ?

Hi!
I added submux support to MaestroSBT, and it's reported to work OK (my SVCD player doesn't support SVCD subtitles). If anybody likes to give it a try....
