Hi,

I tried various key words with searching on the problem i have but cant find a clear answer.

I read in the FAQ if you want to do more then 2 passes with cce sp you have to fill in X+1 , so would that for example be for 4 passes 3+1? And if so, where do i enter this information? in the cce settings you just have a slider to set the amount of passes

thanks

Yes, set the slider to the number of passes you want. EX 1+3.. set slider to 4

lol thanks man, i was thinking to difficult, the answer is so simple!

I did pearl harbor last night (dvd9) and reduced it to dvd5, but i got some macroblocks here and there, do i need to change some of the cce setting? I stripped all the audio expect for english and dutch subtitles, on the original there were no extra's. This is the only movie so far with blocks, what could it be?

183 minutes... might be the problem. Try using HC or QuEnc... they seem to do a better job (for me) at lower bitrates.

thanks for that information, i will give it a go

I just though from reading the guides and this forum CCE SP delivers the highest quality, ill keep my cce version and try again with hc and quenc and compare them. Thanks again!

You might also want to try bitrate redistribution. I have seen improvements in picture quality under heavy compression situations. As some problems have recently been reported with CCE for the redistribution pass, you may want to use HC for redistribution and CCE or HC for the actual encoding. I wouldn't expect problems with CCE if you are using CCE's default matrix, though.

If you try again with CCE SP then try using a low bitrate matrix like AVAMAT 6. Might help.
