The Painted Veil, R1. Time Map gets blown when blanking middle PGCs in multiPGC VTS?

The Setup:


Source was The Painted Veil R1 ripped via DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 (Mode, ISO, Read), with all Remove options enabled under "ISO Read Mode" settings (e.g., Remove IFO Structure Protection, etc.). AnyDVD v6.1.6.5 was enabled on source DVD-ROM drive during ripping with "Copy Protection based on unreadable Sectors" option enabled. ISO image file was mounted via Daemon Tools v3.47.
No preprocessing was performed.
DVD Rebuilder Professional Edition v1.26.1



The Anomaly:

DVD-RB produced a blown time map in its output. The Time Map for VTS_01/PGC 5 (the Trailer) contained entries all having the same identical sector value. In PowerDVD v4, I cannot use the time bar to advance through this title.

Comments/Thoughts:

I haven't seen this problem for a while. I suspect it has something to do with my actions in the Segment Viewer/Editor on a multi-PGC titleset:

VTS_01 (Feature):
V01 (FBI) - Blanked
V02 (Studio splash) - No action taken
V03-04 (Main Movie) - No action taken
V05 (FBI) - Blanked
V06 (Trailer) - No action taken

Here's how these are mapped to PGC in the IFO file:
V01 (FBI) - PGC3
V02 (Studio splash) - PGC2
V03-04 (Main Movie) - PGC1
V05 (FBI) - PGC4
V06 (Trailer) - PGC5

I'm wondering if I hadn't blanked V05 (and/or V01) if my time map for V06 would have been processed correctly? The time maps for the Main Movie and Studio splash were unaffected.

I was able to fix this in post-processing with a dummy run through VobBlanker v2.1.3.0 beta10. Also, the original mounted .ISO file's time maps were intact and functioned properly.

Just a few hints when using the AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter combo:

dispite common believe you can combine AnyDVD with DVDDecrypter as well.
Just do the following:

1.) Use ElbyCDIO as the I/O model.
2.) Disable the structural protection removal in DVDDecrypter (Meaning: click on Tools, Settings and then on the General TAB uncheck "Check for structure protection". Do also Remove Structure Protection on the File, ISO and ISO Read Mode tab.)

This was copy pasted from another forum a long time ago. I don't remember which.

I've seen that before, but personally I've never set my DVD Decrypter to ElbyCDIO -- I left it at the default, and have never had a problem (on at least a thousand discs with DVD Decrypter over AnyDVD).

Yes, the original mounted .ISO had a functioning time map.

I don't know if it would have any impact on the results but, there is no need to use AnyDVD for this Warner Bros. DVD...

(Did the AnyDVD log indicate anything unusual regarding protection?)

setarip_old -- You're prolly right, no need for AnyDVD (just habit) -- I did not notice anything afoul in its initial analysis.

jdobbs, are you thinking that blanking the two PGCs that preceded the trailer (last PGC) shouldn't have caused this?

I didn't find a solution back then (basically because I kept on pre-processing, which I still do). But like you, JFerguson, I tend to experience it when blanking 'middle' pgcs.

Hmmm... well, as I said, I retried it without blanking any PGCs in this titleset and still got a bad time map.
