Iv seen a few Tvrips like this:
12/10/2001 SVCD CSI: Crime Scene Investigation S01E11 *PDTV* FE [xx/56]

this is from the nfo,
"Some info on PDTV:
Basically we capture the mpeg stream as it comes from the satellite. There is no analog processing at any time, the file that tmgenc is fed with, is digital quality, where there is zero loss. Whatmore is that file fed has a dvd-like bitrate (4000-6000). Now you probably have an idea of why we've decided to call it PURE Digital TV-RiP
We insist you DOWNLOAD THE SAMPLE and check the quality out for yourself, after all a picture is worth a thousand words. "

The quality is really nice so I was wondering what kind of capture card exactly I would need to do this. Best I could find is the WinTV Digital TV receiver products @ http://www.hauppauge.com/html/products.htm#digital does anyone that knows about how these rips were done know if that card will work with my Dtv to acomplish the same thing?

Yes, it will most certainley work, be sure to grab the right card though. DVB-s for satellite, DVB-t for terrstrial digital broadcasts (not many countries have this yet) opr DVB-c for digital-tv via the cable-tv network.

I too live in Sweden :-) This thread really interested me. I did some reasearch and found that all cards (except Pinnacles) are made from TechnoTrend's reference board:
http://www.technotrend.de/english/products/pcproducts2-2.html

It's possible to buy it from DVB-SHOP.DE (http://shop180-2.eoa.de/cgi-bin/shop.dll?AnbieterID=2061&Seite=frameset.htm&verteilt=1)

Does anyone have experience with it?
