Hello!
My father has gotten himself a Samsung standalone Blu-Ray player with 1080p and Java support etc.
Since I am from Serbia, there are no shops selling Blu Ray discs so we ordered a bunch from Amazon. After the discs arrived, all of them played except Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2.

I must point out that we looked carefully at the region of the discs before ordering. So a week ago we ordered another batch of movies, this time form Amazon UK so as not to risk mismatching regions, lower shipping cost, etc. Again all of them played (including Prestige released just last week) except the bloody Pirates of the Caribbean.
The player tries to load the disk for a minute and then ejects it.

So now I'm stuck with four Pirates discs and I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions kind people?

I just hope I wont have to wait for Blu ray burners to use Any DVD HD on them...

After some googeling I found a partial answer.

It seems there is a firmware update to address exactly the problem with Pirates of the Caribbean and samsung BD-P1000 player, BUT
the firmware 1.2 is only on the Samsung US site!

I don't want to download the wrong firmware and make my region US!

So I went to Samsung Germany page (Germany has the same PAL standard as Serbia) and they offer firmware 1.0 for download.

Now I'm totally confused.

To conclude the story from above, someone might find my results useful. :)

I installed the EU firmware 1.0, and the movie plays! The installation went without problems (downloaded the iso from samsung support, burnt it to a RW disc, inserted it into the player, confirmed upgrade, waited 10 minutes and thats it).

Now I just hope that some future revision (1.2 perhaps?) will speed up the Java part of the disc, since it's very slow, choppy and sometimes erratic.
