I have ripped a movie for the 2nd time, and both times, the video .avi is PERFECT.
the first time i muxed the audio (AC3 5ch & AC3 2ch) with video in NanDub & VDM...caused the FINAL .avi file to become choppy with pixels flying all over the place. Audio was also screwed up.

I just finished ripping the whole movie again, thinking somewhere I must have done something wrong. Again, after muxing the video & audio, the same problem. I can play the individual .avi (w/o audio) in MPC & VLC and it shows to play perfectly fine. ONLY afterwards, does it become distorted.

So what is my solution here guys?

I am on Microsoft Vista Ultimate as my OS.
Nandub version: v1.0rc2
VirtualDubMod: 1.5.10.2

IF anyone knows a stable version of these for Microsoft Vista...please do let me know. Or a better way of muxing...without having these problems.

P.S. I have also tried VDM 1.7 series

Hi!i muxed the audio (AC3 5ch & AC3 2ch)Do you have the same problem if you use only ONE audiostream?

1) You don't mention whether you've PLAYED each of the .AC3 audiostreams to see if they play properly by themselves

2) Try running the .AC3 files through "AC3Fix"

3) What software and procedures did you use to rip the DVD?

4) What is the Title and Region of the DVD?

1) i played them each individually...they play perfectly fine.

2) AC3Fix...will check that out.

3) Used MeGui.

4) Title: MP3 - mera pehla pehla pyaar, 2007 release, region free

Me - What software and procedures did you use to rip the DVD?You - Used MeGuiWhat program and procedures did you use to RIP the DVD (and the individual streams), before you used MeGUI to convert it to .AVI?

DVD Decrypter to RIP the DVD...that's it.

for further details...i installed vista ultimate retail 5 days ago. so this was my FIRST rip under vista ultimate.

i've installed vista codec pack 4.7 i think...ffdshow...could it be that i am missing something?

i then used megui to separate video & audio streams...

If available to you, you might try repeating all procedures on a machine with an earlier, non-Vista OS...

oh man, even I KNEW that!!!!!!!!!So, does this overreaction mean that, although you didn't say so in any of your posts to this thread, that you've already tried repeating these procedures on an other-than-Vista machine? - and that the multiplexed files played properly or improperly?my god, i asked if anyone knew about stable software that would mux correctly UNDER vista!!!You also asked: Or a better way of muxing...without having these problems
geezus, you had me go through ALL that?Go through "all" what? Four brief questions?a dead man could have told me that...Too many jokes come to mind that I might post in response to such a totally rude and unappreciative remark. Perhaps you'll eventually understand and appeciate the concept of controlled experiments...

I have just now tried to rip another movie, with the same results.

The bottom row of 50 or so pixels are all blurry...and the rest is also messed up...THIS shows up in VLC. HOWEVER, when i play the same file in MPC, it plays normally. {unmuxed file...video only}

re: another way to mux...DIFFERENT software...NOT operating systems

THIS WAS MY VERY VERY FIRST rip under Microsoft Vista Retail Edition of ULTIMATE. Previously ALL MY RIPS were done successfully & without errors under Vista RC2 Ultimate.

I will STICK to Vista...but I am hoping SOMEONE out here can help me with my current situation. Thanks

{didn't mean to be rude...but EVERYONE says to go to XP...and I say f**k XP, i hated it and always will, give me NT...i was so happy with that}

As established in another thread it's not a muxing issue, the original video-only avi file obtained from MeGUI is bad.
