What are people's thoughts on the GOM player?
I tried it and I like the modern looking interface, seemed to play avi's and mp4's nicely. Plus it played avi's over my home wireless network without choppiness, vlc has a problem with that.

increase buffers in VLC ;)
downloading GOM...
[edit]
Seems to be using dshow codecs. It uses some activex modules for playback. A bit strange...

When I had this problem with VCL I looked for a week for a way to increase buffers, could not find it. Where do you find this setting?

Open file (advanced)
Then you have "buffer" in ms.

I typcally don't play a movie that way. I want to double click the movie and have it start. I have all my movies on a server, mapped to a drive letter.

I have tried it too several weeks ago, and it really strange:
I thought it will be a complete DS player, but it's not the case. The biggest flows that you can't turn off the built-in splitters ...

I also have tested it ... and you can disable built-in filters by renaming then in the install path :devil::devil:
