.evo to h/x.264 using Final Cut?

I just got a new Macbook Pro and got Final Cut Express HD also have the entire Final Cut Studio at my disposal if needed.

Is it possible to re-encode a ripped evo file to a smaller filesize using either of the 2 programs?

Why would you need Final Cut?

I'd think you can just rip the HD-DVD using the methods described in the Decryption forum and then use x264 to encode it.
