"I've backed up countlless DVD using DVDRB (1.26.0 and older versions) in OPV mode with CCE without any problem until I've just recently started experiencing problem in DVDRB 1.26.1!!
-Back up process completed without any problem. When playing on standalone DVD player, video got jerky and freezes up in 6-7 mins in the midle part of the encoded DVD. Well, I tested this DVD ( still in my PC)with Power DVD, same problem occurred.
-Before blaming it on DVDRB 1.26.1, I reencoded this DVD again using OPV mode. I 've seen the same exact problem as before:(
-To confirm that if there was any bug in OPV mode in DVDRB 1.26.1, I changed OPV mode to 2 VBR passes in Settings.
Voila!!, no more jerky and frozen video on that particular video clip on this DVD
jdobbs, any possible bug in OPV mode in DVDRB 1.26.1 ??
Thanks

There were no changes in DVD-RB v1.26.1 that could be related to anything like that. I'd look elsewhere for the problem. What other changes have you made? Have you tried any other discs in OPV mode?

Any chance you have "DISABLE_DYNAMIC_PEAK" or "OVERRIDE_BITRATE_CHECK" set in your INI file? Either of those were designed for testing only and can cause exactly the problem you are describing. Also, what version of CCE are you using. It certainly sounds like the maximum bitrate is being exceeded.

Thanks for responding my inquiry,jdobbs.
With fresh installation of DVDRB 1.26.1 and CCE SP 2.70.0.12 without modifying anything in INI, I came across this problem twice encoding the same DVD. However. it 's weird that there is no problem in 2 VBR passes mode ?? I could have blamed this problem on this disk but nothing was wrong when switching to 2 VBR passes!!
Well, I've encoded so many DVDs with DVDRB 1.26.0 and older versions and the same version of CCE without experiencing anything like this before..
Maybe I should go back to DVDRB 1.26.0 for OPV mode that I always like best?? I've read this new change in DVDRB pro 1.26.1
- Added new code to the OPV prediction routines that should
improve further improve Q selection and sizing.

You could try the "redistribute bitrate" feature, it will give you the benefits of OPV while doing a multipass VBR encode.

Thanks for your help, Boulder.
Unfortunately, I've tried that too on the first time encoded DVD to see if it was helpful. After having seen this problem and even thinking that redistributed birated was the problem, I had decided to disable it to see if redistribution birate feature was the cause on the second time encoded DVD. It was the same problem on the second times of encoding this disk !!
If there were such problems with this disk and CCE, supposedly, how come there was no problem with it in 2 VBR passes mode?? Hmm

Because the OPV bitrate limiter doesn't necessarily work the same way as multipass.

Thanks, jdobbs for the newer version 1.26.2 pro today
I will try it out to see if it would fix this problem in OPV mode.

Nothing has really changed there... I've done numerous OPV encodes today (with CCE SP and SP2) as a test -- they all work correctly.

Strangely , jdobbs, newest version has given me no problem at all on encoding the same disk with the same settings in OPV mode today. You probably are the only one solving this mystery with a newer version(knowing what is going on with the "code"). Other noticed change is slower encoding speed on my Core 2 duo in comparison to the previous version 1.26.1 in all modes.
Thanks you so much for solving this problem and your supports, jdobbs

Happy to help... but I haven't done anything that would have an effect one way or the other... maybe you just had a corrupted copy of the last version.
